What should the lease agreement contain?

The lease agreement is an important document that ensures your rights as well as those of the tenant. It describes your obligations to one another.

A standard lease agreement contains:

  • The name and address of both tenant and landlord
  • The address, size, inventory/fixtures, condition and right of use of the rental property
  • Information regarding the tenancy: Move in date, termination date if relevant, rent, deposit, prepaid rent, means of payment and extra expenses
  • Rules of maintenance, reconditioning upon termination of lease, pets and rules of tenancy

You can find a standard lease here.

Please note, that from July 1, 2015 a new standard lease was introduced.
